Dyson Purifier Cool Purifying Fan Review

Updated: Jul 14, 2023

With the amount of brake dust in the air from the millions of vehicles pouring into Los Angeles daily, the air quality in the city is not great. The living spaces are smaller in LA, making the indoor air quality much more concerning. We live in a 1,000 square foot apartment. If we cook anything in the kitchen, the entire apartment smells like that food for days and these small LA apartments don't ventilate very well.. This led us to find the Dyson Purifier Cool Purifying Fan to help circulate the air.

The Dyson Purifier Cool serves as both an air purifier and cooling fan. It gives you a realtime air quality index, or AQI, that ranges from good to severe. It also relays the current particulate matter in the air detecting microscopic particles and other allergens. The 360° filtration system removes gases and odors using activated carbon and a HEPA filter to capture 99. 97% of pollutants as small as 0. 3 microns. When we first purchased the Dyson Purifier Cool Fan, the carbon and HEPA filters were installed separately. Dyson has since combined them into one simple filter called the 360 Combi Glass HEPA + Carbon air purifier filter. The filter will last a full year before needing to be replaced.

The Dyson Fan is extremely user friendly. It's easy to set up the app on your smart phone, allowing you to check the current air quality inside or outside your home. The app also allows you to control the fan wirelessly. A magnetic remote is included that attaches to the top of the tower, if you don't want to use the app. The fan works great too. It oscillates 350° or can be locked into a fixed position. At night, we set the fan speed to 4 or 5 which creates a soft flow of air and a pleasant white noise sound. When you set the fan to auto, it will ramp up the fan speed based on the air quality in your home.

The sleek design is what really drew us to the Dyson compared to other brands. It looks "cool" for lack of a better word and doesn't take up a lot of space. The fan has held up well for almost 3 years with only needing to replace the filter annually. It's easy to clean and maintain and gives you peace of mind knowing the air quality in your home is safe. We have considered getting a model that does hot and cold air for the winter time, but for now we're extremely happy with the Dyson Purifier Cool model.
