IKEA Deck Tiles Long-Term Review

Long term Ikea deck tiles review.

It's been a little over 1 year since we purchased our Runnen deck tiles from IKEA. We wanted to do an IKEA deck tiles long-term review to see how they have held up in the elements outside. Other than a few minor scuffs and scratches from where we move our plants and deck chairs, the wood tiles look basically the same as they did a year ago. The plastic tiles look flawless. It seems like the plastic ones will hold up better in the long run and don't need the annual coating of wood stain like the acacia ones do.

Before re-applying another coat of the Vårda stain to the wood tiles, we hosed all the tiles down thoroughly. We set the garden hose nozzle to the jet setting to really spray away all the dust, dirt and debris. If your tiles are really dirty, you might need to use a mop with soapy suds to really clean them effectively. Ours weren't too bad, and simply hosing them down seemed to work fine.

After we hosed down the tiles, we let them dry completely overnight. Then we applied a new coat of the Vårda wood stain to help protect them against the outdoor elements. Once the coat was applied, we let it dry for a full 24 hours. After that, the deck tiles were ready for another year of wear and tear. It does seem like the weather and climate in Southern California will allow these tiles to last a long time. We don't know how good they'll hold up in places like Vancouver or Portland. We would love to know in the comments what other people's experience has been with these tiles, especially in regions different from ours.

We found these similar Thyoi deck tiles on Amazon, which are also made from acacia wood If you don't live near an IKEA. Overall, we love these Runnen Ikea deck tiles. They make our roof top patio look great and they have held up incredibly well. We would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a low cost way to spruce up their patio space!
