When we went to Seattle over the holidays, we noticed how much better the water tastes compared to Los Angeles. We also realized that our hair and skin looked and felt better. This led us down a rabbit hole, to which we discovered the level of acceptable Arsenic and other contaminant levels was more than 400 times higher than the recommended health guidelines according to the EWG. This was a very shocking revelation. We wanted to do whatever we could to filter out all the bad stuff from not only our drinking water, but the water we shower in as well.
We had heard of a product through multiple friend groups about the Jolie Filtered Shower Head. We decided to give it a try and ordered the chrome version to match our other fixtures in the bathroom. Installation was fairly easy with a few minor adjustments. First, we had to swap the flow restricter on the shower head which popped out easily. We live in California and the state restrictions on water and energy are regulated to a range of 1.8 to 2.0 GPM (gallons per minute). For most states, the default 2.5GPM flow restricter can be used. Both restricters are provided with the shower head.
One issue we ran into was the included gasket was a little too small when screwing into the shower arm. Luckily, we were able to use the gasket from our old shower head we were replacing. After replacing the gasket, the installation couldn't have been any easier.
Upon first use, there was a noticeable difference in the shower. Not only did the water feel softer, but the entire shower experience felt better. Almost like you were at a spa at a high end resort. So much more enjoyable and pleasant. I felt the most noticeable difference when washing my face. It was like the water was smoother and all around less harsh. I honestly wasn't expecting to notice a difference immediately. It really is night and day different. If you live somewhere with hard water like we do, you'll notice an immediate difference.
We will update this review in a few months to see if it helps at all with some skin conditions that flare up regularly like eczema. Either way, we're very happy with the Jolie Filtered Shower Head system and will update the blog in a few months to see if it still holds up and if there's any issues.
*Jolie Filtered Showerhead Review update. A couple of differences we’ve noticed since having the Jolie for a few months is the shower stays cleaner longer with the filter in compared to before. Also, one of us has very colorful unnatural hair and it has faded way slower than before the filter.
Now that we’ve passed the 3 month mark and replaced the filter. The filter itself was very easy to swap out. You don’t need to remove the entire shower head from the arm. You only need to remove the front section of the housing which unscrews by simply turning it to the left. We are still very satisfied with our purchase and will continue to recommend it!
