If you want to keep your Nespresso pods tasting their best, you will need to do an annual or semiannual descale depending on how frequently you use it. Nespresso makes a proprietary descale solution that can be used to clean out your machine. The whole descaling process is straight forward, but requires a complex series of button pushing that will allow you to enter and exit the descale mode. This tutorial will walk you through the steps to clean your machine. The entire descale will take about 20 minutes.
First, make sure the machine is empty and eject any pod that might still be sitting in the chamber. Then follow these steps:
Close the lid and leave the lever in the "unlocked" position. Then fill the water tank with 17 ounces or 500ml of water.
Add the Nespresso Descaling Solution to the water.
Turn on the machine and press the button. The button will illuminate as the machine heats up and turn solid.
To enter descaling mode, press and hold the button for 7 seconds. The button will start blinking, and you have 45 seconds to enter descaling mode by completing the next step.
Lock the machine by turning the lever left to the lock symbol.
Unlock by turning the lever right.
Press and hold the button for 7 seconds in the unlocked position.
Place a large 20oz glass or mug under the coffee outlet.
To start the descale, lock the machine by turning the lever left and press the button. Let all the descaling solution run through the machine.
When finished, detach and thoroughly rinse out the water tank and empty the 20oz glass.
Fill more than half of the water tank with fresh drinking water and reattach it to the machine, and place the 20oz glass under the coffee outlet.
Push the button to rinse the machine. The machine will stop automatically when complete.
To exit the descaling mode, turn the lever to the unlocked position.
Press and hold the button for 7 seconds. The light will stop blinking and turn solid.
Descaling is completed. Allow your machine to dry for 10 minutes before using again.
We hope this will help you with your Nespresso VertuoLine Descale. Your coffee should be tasting just as good as a brand new machine. Enjoy!
